Akubra Hat Size Chart

From the Cattleman to the Traveller, Akubra Hats are synonymous with Australia & the Outback. Use our Akubra Size Guide below to ensure you shop with ease & find the correct fit:

Video demonstration below.

1. Obtain a tape measure and measure the circumference of the head, just above the ears.

2. Ensure that the tape is wound straight around the head and is level from front to back. You should feel a bump in the back of the head - please ensure that the tape sits over the bump, as this will be the widest part.

3. Measure a few times for accuracy, as mistakes can sometimes happen.

4. If the measurement is in between sizes, please select the larger size. For example, a head measuring 58.1cm - 59cm would take a size 59 hat.

5. Most of our hat sizes are displayed in metric measurements (centimetres). To convert your size use the chart below.

Please note: It's always best to buy a hat that's a bit loose, rather than a bit tight. Due to the inner leather hat band, *your Akubra hat will shrink slowly over time. If a hat feels too loose initially, you can pack the inside of the crown to make the hat feel smaller, or use a hat filler.

If you're in doubt or have any questions, please contact us. We are hat experts with over 30 years of experience and we're happy to help!

*The following Akubra styles won't shrink because they have a felt inner band: Traveller & Avalon.
