The most popular pack in the Summit range, this is a great pack for most purposes due to its convenient size. Larger than an overnight pack but smaller than a traditional backpack, it carries a lot but feels compact so you feel agile as well as prepared for anything. The narrow profile and clean design slims your silhouette so you can make it through the scrub without snagging yourself, and it has lots of convenient feature pockets so you have easy access to your essential items.

It’s a tough little bugger too. Australian made from high tenacity Corespun Canvas with 1000 denier Cordura reinforcement, it comes in a S/M size of 40 litres for shorter folks, and a 45 litre M/L size for larger lads and lassies. It’s only 1.8 kg too, so your start weight is nice and low.

People become attached to their Cockatoo. It quickly becomes more like a best mate than a backpack, especially once you’ve used to the custom mouldable frame feature to mould the frame perfectly to your back. It also  features a full padded wingbelt which moves the weight from your shoulders to your hips so you feel like you’re being spooned by a lover, rather than carrying a deadweight.

It travels so well too. It’s only 1.8kg, so your start weight is nice and low and if you don’t overfill it too much, you can sneak the Cockatoo on the plane with you as hand luggage. Technically the specs are a little larger than airline requirements, but we’ve never had any problems and it means you’ve got all your gear on you at all times. How good is that?
